Bucknor replaced

ICC have replaced Steve Bucknor for the 3rd Test match in Perth. They have appointed Billy Bowden. Malcolm Speed has also announced that a highly positioned judge will rule on India's appeal against the ICC's code of conduct on Harbhajan Singh.

It’s unfortunate that this has happened as a result of the request by the BCCI.  No problem with him being replaced for poor performance, but it now means that 2 international test umpires have been removed as a result of requests by the subcontinent.  Not good.

True regarding the dropping of umpires. I’ve always liked Bucknor, but the claims that he’s done poor judging a few times against the Indians should be looked at and see if there is any truth in that.

It’s an allegation brought by the Indians, who are notorious for crying foul whenever they feel slighted. That said, it’s definitely time for Bucknor to move on. Just a shame that it will come to him being pushed. The funny thing is that Billy Bowden is in fact the single worst Test umpire in the world, as ranked by the players themselves. So, no doubt India will have to get him pushed out as well.

I accept Speeds reasoning saying it is politically a good idea to try and make piece on this (he said it better then I just have).

If was in charge of the Hogg case and Harbhajan appeal I would give Hogg a two match suspension and suspend 1 of those matches. Harbhajan should maintain his 3 match suspension but have two of them suspended.

The ICC should then institute a no sledging policy for the rest of the series and the one dayers.

Well, as someone mentioned, I think these guys are whinging like kids on some issues. While racism has no place in sports, calling another each other names on the field is a bit stupid and they should all just have a beer at the end of the day.

I say neither side is without faults. Just suck it up and play the darn game. And have fun and make sure other people enjoy it.

I also think the administration make the players do some darnest things for no/minor odd reason(s). Players play the game and people watch it for the love of it, don’t be a hater, I say.

But i’m glad the series is back on. Just to see how the rest of it goes.
